Based on the testimony of Isabel, who fled Spain as a child in 1936 and eventually settled in Mexico, TANGO RETIRADA follows her journey across Spain, France, and Mexico. Combining contemporary landscapes, oral histories, music, and an original experimental cinematography, the film explores the relationship between perception, memory, and history, asking how childhood experiences of war continue to resonate across generations.
